My Rides
2nd Avenue
1987 Chevy S-10
This was a dealer demo I bought in Anchorage, Alaska.
It was a great truck w/4wd. I built a camper for the back & we drove
it from Alaska to San Diego. I think I paid about $10K for it.
Today's
ebay value ... $450-$12,500
I traded it in for one of the worst cars I ever owned.
I thought it would be a good compact car for catering.
This little beauty ........
1988 Nissan Stanza
The only thing cool about this car is the sliding
rear doors on both sides.
Today's ebay value .... $430-$3,150
1976 BMW R100s
1000cc Touring bike. This was a sweet machine. I bought it in Alaska
for $3000 in '83. Maggie & I toured all over south/central AK with it
before unloading it way to cheap @ $1500 before we left the state.
Today's
ebay value ... $15-$18,601
1987 & a 1989 Ford Aerostar
I went through 2 of these in the catering business.
The engine blew on the 1st one when someone didn't
stop when the temp gauge was pegged in the red.
Today's ebay value .... $65-$2,800
1985 4x4 GMC Van
I gutted this rig & custom built the camper interior
complete w/3 way fridge, solar hot water, sink,
beds, bucket seats & awning. It was great for
camping. The 4WD got us anywhere we wanted to go.
Today's ebay value ....$3795 - $11,000
1975 GMC Van
This was a solid rig. We drove it to the end of the
Baja & back. That's a solar hot water tank on the
roof that gravity feeds into the sink inside.
Paid $1500 Sold $1500
Today's ebay value ....$300 - $2500
Outside Hot Shower
1996 Jeep Cherokee XJ
This is what it looked like when I 1st bought it.
Today's ebay value ....$500 - $10,000
My homemade paint booth
Taping off the graphics
Laying down the color
Since most of the parts came from either the junk yard or ebay,
I named this rig the "Junque Yard Dawg".
There are more pics on my Off Road Adventure site.
This picture was featured as the "Pic of the Month"
in Peterson's 4 Wheel & Off Road Magazine.
I built it up into a rock crawler over a 5 year period.
Then I repaired all the rock rash & Baja pin striping.
I did a bunch of metal fabrication & gave it a new paint job ....
right in my driveway!
2001 Volkswagon Jetta
I call this the "Poor Man's Mercedes"
It's a sweet ride. Leather interior, sun roof,
power everything, great sound system.
Today's ebay value ....$500 - $10,000
1997 Ford Escort
Here's a real piece of crap car.
Today's ebay value .... $200 - $1000
And now for the Pièce de résistance .....
"The Bummer"
This is a 1979 Nordco Marketeer.
It started out as a golf cart but evolved into a nice little electric car.
It is street legal & gets me all around our beach community on electric power.
Six 6V batteries power it up to a top speed of 27 mph!
Purchase price ... $300 each
I purchased a 2nd one for parts and put $1000 into a ground up restoration.
Current value ..... $5000
This is what it looked like when I bought it.              Here it is after a complete restoration.
We took 3rd place in the local holiday parade.
The big gift in the back is my guitar amp.
We were blasting out rocking Christmas music along the
parade route & throwing candy canes to the crowd.
Tragedy struck a week later, or should I say I struck,
a telephone pole.
"I was sober, I swear"!!!
Back to the body shop.
1st I had to straighten the frame using the winch on my
jeep & strapping the other side to a tree.
Maggie even helped with the body work
We put it back together, painted some flames on it
& named it the "BUMMER".
This time the amp was in the wagon.
Mahalia & Caleb were sitting in the back throwing candy canes.
The next year we took 1st place in the holiday parade.
It must have been the flame job.
